What better way to celebrate Valentines day then to donate to Locks of Love. I decided that it was time to donate my hair, and what a crazy experience that was. I am so glad that I did it and I hope that who ever gets my hair feels the love I am sending with it!

I have been working with the YMCA's new Lose It program since I have had Allie. Gilly has helped me through every step of the way and I am so happy to be of help to others in the program also.

Today is the first day of the 2011 Mrs. Idaho America Pageant. All of the ladies are beautiful but more important VERY nice. Today they had swimsuit check and practiced the walking patterns and are learning the opening number. We will be posting through pageant weekend so stay tuned for more pictures.

I attended Meridian's State of the City where Mayor Tammy de Weerd delivered her speech to our ever growing city of Meridian in which she outlined plans for the future. Following her address, I attended the reception where we were treated to a "taste of Meridian" where restaurant vendors of Meridian shared samples of their delicious food. All I can say is...WOW! Why go anywhere else outside of our city limits anymore to enjoy exquisite and tasteful meals? Meridian has grown significantly in large numbers over the last 10 years, however after meeting several business owners, we still have that small town friendly community in which I love so much!

On January 28, I was asked to attend Idaho Dance Theaters "Winter Performance" and it was amazing! The dance theater has been going strong for 22 seasons! Idaho Dance Theater has been so supportive of me and I wanted to show the same to them. The dancers were some of the most talented I have seen here in Boise for a long time, with their long lines, support to each other, and all the technical moves they performed flawlessly, it was a show not to miss!!! I also get to be a celebrity dancer in the upcoming 2011 Gala called "Dancing through the Decades" and am looking forward to getting trained by all these amazing dancers to help raise funds for the Theater.

As I was putting on my sash to volunteer for this event, I became sad knowing that this might be one of my last appearances as Mrs. Sun Valley. What a remarkable experience it has been so far! This weekend, I volunteered at the Sun Valley Snowshoe Race. I helped out with the kid races and was given the great pleasure of handing out the medals to all of the little kids. It was another beautiful day in Sun Valley!

Our local YMCA opened it's doors 3 years ago and since that date, I have participated in their Y Partners Campaign by helping to raise money within our communtiy. The Y Partners Campaign is their biggest fundraiser to support the Open Doors Policy. The Open Doors Policy allows everyone in the community, regardless of their income, to become a YMCA member. This year, our goal is to raise $150,000 and I am a team captain of the New Kids on the Block team (we had too choose a band name). Last year, as team captain, our team scored the most points so I' m hoping to pull our team to victory once again.

For the past two years, I have served on the Community School's Parent Association. Last year, I was the Kindergarten room parent and this year I'm the Preschool room parent. My duties throughout the year include being the teacher/parent liaison. attending meetings, volunteering at the school's annual Barn Sale, and organizing all classroom parities (we even celebrate Groundhog's day!). This has been a great way for me to get more involved in my childrens' school and I really do enjoy it! They may be stuck with me for life!

I have been humbled and honored to watch it's readership grow to substantial numbers and to see it spread across the country. I believe in leading by example and hope to inspire and encourage other families to become more active and healthy with their families within their own community. Promoting this message across my community has been a great adventure for my family. Getting more involved in Sun Valley and becoming a more active family has been the biggest perk for me and for my family.

On January 13, the Boise Capital City Lions club asked me to be their keynote speaker. Whenever a Lions club gets together, problems get smaller. And communities get better. That's because they are the help where help is needed – in our own communities and around the world – with unmatched integrity and energy.

There are over 45,000 clubs and 1.35 million members make them the world's largest service club organization. I was truly honored to be able to be their speaker for the day since they are such an inspiration to me! I spoke of all the service work I've done in the community, how I've helped to do my part as a citizen and the experience of the pageant so far. It was a wonderful experience!

On January 14, I was asked to participate in raising awareness for Bruce Wingate and Protect Idaho Kids. They have the same belief that our children are our future, we NEED to protect them. Through community outreach, integrity, education and many events I've been able to do with them, we are working on getting that message out! Mrs. Eagle, Kristie Bear, got to join us this time and we spoke with many people about some fun and exciting events coming up for Protect Idaho Kids! We are improving and the campaign is continually aiming to increase awareness of child safety issues that most effect the youth in our community. I am proud to be apart of such a wonderful organization!

I was invited by friends to join them in serving the first dinner of the New Year 2011 at the River of Life Men's home at the Boise Rescue mission.

What a truly humbling experience this was to serve nearly 300 men, women and children a wonderful hot meal during the course of several hours that evening. James, the volunteer director gave us a tour of the kitchen . We stood in the large freezer and the pantry that stocked the canned goods that were donated from the community. He handed out the aprons, we washed our hands, pulled on our gloves and happily served in our assembly line. The hungry folks came in and patiently waited at their tables as they were served by the cheerful young boys anxious to serve them.

Several men are part of a incentive working program called New Life that encourages them in getting back on their feet and return to establishing themselves in the community once again after rehabilitation from drug and alcohol abuse. There were the stories of many and all were so grateful of having a safe and warm place where they could go for a meal and a place to lay their head. Indeed they were also so appreciative of us showing them we care by serving them.

It was I that walked away with a most grateful heart and warm feeling in doing some good on the first day of the New Year and hoping to carry that feeling throughout the year. I am so blessed!

On New Years Day 2011, both Mrs. Meridian, Beverly Hartle and Mrs. Boise, Lindsay Campbell took the plunge in the Great Polar Challenge that takes place each year at Lucky Peak Reservoir in benefitting the Make-A-Wish Idaho.

More than 200 people participated in the challenge this year raising over $30,000 which benefits up to 6 children suffering life-threatening illnesses. With the wind chill in the -15 range, many ran into the icy water just enough to plunge and run out, however there were some that brought boats and took to waterskiing. With ice forming on the shoreline and steam rising from the water, the countdown began and there was shreaks and shrills as we entered the lake and quickly exited barely able to move as the numbing quickly kicked in.

Facing a challenge such as this for just a brief moment in time was symbolic in the everyday trials these children are suffering with.

What a wonderful way to start the New Year by participating in an event to support these children in fulfilling their dreams. It was crazy, intense, exciting but rewarding in knowing we have helped put a smile on a child's face..even just for a little while.

On December 16, I was asked by Protect Idaho Kids to do a television spot featuring local events for families, children and fun stuff for the community during the Christmas time. I know you can't post that, but thought you'd enjoy, so it's attached. They introduced me as "Mrs. Boise herself" which was kind of fun and made me smile, but when I watched it, it has the title of "Mrs. Idaho" under my name... kind of is a BIG funny oops, but it's nothing I could have controlled.

On December 16, 2010, I was asked to join my daughters class for some holiday baking and also speak to the children about how to give back without having much money to spend (they are kids, so they don't have much). We spent the afternoon working on perfecting the dough, baking them, letting them cool and then the decorations were next! Talk about a fun, silly group of girls I got to hang out with. I was with 6 young girls for most of the day and we had such a blast with all the festivities! Next, I got to speak with the entire class about how to give back. We talked about how many different things we can do, even as children. Some of the children were very creative with suggestions they can use on their own to do some volunteerism in our very own community. I hope I was able to influence these young children to do good deeds and pay it forward each and everyday of their lives!

For the past 3 years, I have helped organized the YMCA's Giving Tree that helps benefit the Hunger Coalition. Every year, I am deeply moved by the compassion of Sun Valley residents. From reading over each child's wish list to seeing beautifully wrapped presents arrive daily, it is truly a humbling experience and one event that I look forward to coordinating each year. This year, with the communities support, 75 local children will have a brighter Christmas.

"Blessed are the Peacemakers!" This race event took place at the Idaho Correctional facilities located in Kuna, Idaho. The proceeds from this event provides educational scholarships for survivors of Idaho Fallen Officers directly from the memorial fund. http://www.idahopeaceofficersmemorial.com/ The race was kicked off to a start by the prison sirens and a warcraft airplane flying overhead. It was almost an eary feeling, but exciting all at once to be present here as the runners took off on their course through the desert and back. The rain held off until the very end during the awards ceremony. It was my honor to personally give out awards to the winners of the 5k, 10k and the half marathon along with Retired Peace Officer and currently Representive Rich Wills from district 22. What a wonderful man and servant of our great state! Once again, it is a great feeling to see how supported events such as these are helping families of officers that have served honorably in our communities.

This was going to be a busy day in Meridian! The morning began with blustery snowflakes coming down on our Winterland parade! I could have easily kept the top down and stayed inside the warm, comfortable car with the heated seats warming my tush, but no..I braved the elements and sat atop the car with my umbrella and cruised Main St., Meridian following the wagon picking up droppings from the Clydesdale horse ahead of us. I wondered if my magnetic sign was large enough to properly state my title as "Mrs. Meridian" since I heard the cute bundled up children waving and yelling out, "Merry Christmas, Mrs. Idaho!" and once I surprisingly heard a child yell out, "Hi, Mrs. America!!". Oh..from the mouths of babes! It just warmed my heart..and that's about all it warmed in the 20 degree temps. Mom's helper Zach, trailed beside or mostly behind the car handing out candy to the parade onlookers and was determined to not miss a single child. He's a leader and a service member in the making! Following the parade, we were off to defrost and feel our fingers and toes again in the Community Center where the Meridian Parks & Recreation department hosted an event for children to come and take pictures with Santa, drink some hot chocolate, decorate sugar cookies with every kind of sprinkle and gummies they could load on top, paint their faces and make glittered Christmas cards for their familes! HO! HO! HO! I'm so happy to be serving in the community of IDA...HO!! Finally, but certainly not least was the Mayor's Christmas tree lighting that evening. The city displayed on a big screen, the movie "The Grinch" before listening to 5th grade elementary school choirs from Chief Joseph Elementary and a jazz orchestra group from one of the local high schools. Once again, the snow fell reminding us of the season's arrival. Then, speaking of arrivals, Santa arrived by horse and carriage on Main St , followed by his and Mayor Tammy de Weerd count down to the lighting of the tree. The director of the parks and rec., Steve Siddoway held his breath and hoped for the best as the tree lighted and all was a success! There was a contest on who could guess how many lights lighted the tree and I was told that the continuous strand of lights were over a mile long! I think the vote is still out as I haven't heard the numbers come in yet. I am so honored to be a representative in my hometown of MERIDIAN and enjoying the spirit of this wonderful season of Christmas as we celebrate Christ's birth! That's what this is all about!

I went to go help out with welcoming and handing out programs at the Mr. Twin Falls High School Pageant, and ended up judging due to some car problems of another judge. I am so thankful that I have had the opportunity to be a judge and see how people are perceived from on stage. Seeing all those talented men that did things from baking a beat box to playing the piano, and even dancing like Michael Jackson with a moon walk. The confidence to be themselves in front of all their peers and parents was definitely inspiring. I was able to judge along with two other wonderful ladies that had been judging for a couple years now at this pageant and other pageants. I also got a picture with Mr. Twin Falls High School, Tyler, and congratulated him on the wonderful performance. This will definitely be a night to remember!

On November 10, I volunteered to help out at the "Governor's Brightest Star Awards Ceremony." This ceremony recognizes local individuals, businesses, leaders, corporations and schools who serve through out the state of Idaho. Governor Otter and First Lady Lori were the ones who gave out the awards for volunteerism. Larry Gebert was the host/MC of the event while Gov. Otter and First Lady enjoyed meeting with everyone and handing the awards out. That day truly moved me when I was able to see children to elderly give back in so many ways. I am proud to live in a state where volunteerism is recognized at this level.

On November 12 and 13, I was asked to help show support for Protect Idaho Kids at the Idaho Steelhead's Hockey game in Qwest Arena. What a fun time, I got to help give out tickets, raise awareness to helping support our children in the state of Idaho, go on the ice to give out kids bikes, helmets, gift cards and many other goodies, ride the Zamboni and also meet J.R. Celski who has won two bronze medals in the Olympics, at the ripe young age of 19! He was so incredibly kind and sweet, so was Miss Western Idaho Outstanding Teen, Ashley Stultz! A HUGE thank you to Bruce Wingate and Heather Cooper from Protect Idaho Kids!

On November 28, I was asked by Stage Coach Theater Director to be the MC for the premier opening night of the play "A Christmas Twist." I had such a wonderful time! The evenings events consisted of gathering and waiting for the "stars" of the show to get chauffeured to the red carpet where I got to play "ET host" and interview them! I was pretty creative in asking each questions and got the entire room to laugh with glee! I was able to introduce the producer of the play on stage and thank their seasonal sponsors, who we all know without them, we wouldn't be getting too far! Thank you to Stage Coach for allowing me to be the presenter of the evening and walk the "red carpet" with all the stars of the show!

Happy Thanksgiving weekend!

Every year since we have lived in Sun Valley, my family has participated in the Turkey Trot on Thanksgiving morning. This year, only the brave and dedicated souls ran/walked the 3 miles since it was a chilly 2 degrees outside! We were all bundled up and enjoyed walking around the neighborhoods and socializing with folks that we know. Our toes may have been cold, but it was a perfect way for my family to start our Thanksgiving.

This was an exciting event to be a part of. The organization that put on this fun run is called "Race for the Nations". It is a group of athletes that raise money to send missionaries to different areas of the world such as Mexico, Romania and Congo to assist in different areas needed. Currently they are raising money to go to help the children in orphanages in China.

Either volunteering for such events or being a participant has such an impact on those you are helping. A little goes a long way when there are many willing to sacrifice their time and do something they love also..such as running for me.

We ran the 5k along the Boise river and into the trees with only a headlamp or body lights to light the way in the darkness. It is symbolic to recognize that when we were altogether running in a pack, it was easy to see the path ahead with everyones lights lighting the way. When I was on my own running through the trees with noone around me is when it was more difficult to see on my own. That is such the way, that we cannot do it on our own. We need the "light" of others to help accomplish the goal. www.raceforthenations.org promotes all of us to "Be the Light" to incorporate HOPE in the lives of others.

I've always remembered this landmark as a little girl when we would drive into town to visit my relatives back when we
traveled up from California to Idaho for vacations. It was the Meridian Watertower that stood out like a beacon in the night as if to say,
"Eureka! This is the Place!" after the long long grueling drive. I was always so excited to reach our destination after the long journey and time for vacation to begin! Now..after all these years, I am proud to be representing the great City of Meridian and be able to look at the "beacon" and know that I am proud to call Meridian my home and what a wonderful place it is! EUREKA!!!

We met at the Boys and Girls Club of Meridian and were dispersed throughout the city to homes of elderly folks that
needed our help with raking their leaves. My husband and I worked with a team from the Meridian Kiwanis Club and
were sent out to 2 homes. At our second home, we met the sweetest 80 yr old woman that was so thrilled to have us help her.
Her backyard was filled with beautiful plants and trees and MANY ...did I say MANY leaves! We left nearly 18 bags of leaves on her curb upon completion.
Several kids happily raked and bagged along with the cutest 8 yr old foster boy named Levi. He had such a great attitude and it
brought me much joy and a smile to my face knowing that there are so many wonderful people that are willing to drop whatever they are doing on a frosty Saturday morning to assist those in need.

On November 4, I was invited to a Wishing Star Foundation benefit breakfast where I MC'd for the morning. They are an amazing organization! They are wish makers in real life form!! Wishing Star's mission statement is to provide kids with hope through uplifting and rejuvenating experiences refocusing on the joys of life, to provide lasting support and memories for wish families, to treat families and associates with dignity and protect their privacy, and to inspire greater community participation in fulfilling Wishing Star's Mission. They are able to grant children wishes that are diagnosed with terminal or medical issues from ages 3 to 21. Pictured with Mandy Wood from ICON Credit Union (a sponsor the the organization) and Tracy Shaw (the director for the local Wishing Star) What a phenomenal organization!

The Veteran's Day Parade was a huge success on November 7! I enjoyed riding in a Corvette provided by the local corvette club! The driving was extremely kind and gracious. A HUGE "thank you!!!" to our Vet's who have served past and present, if it wasn't for them, freedom wouldn't be free for us. I was honored to be a part of the parade and feel blessed that there are those who place their lives above mine so I can be free. Picture is from the Idaho Statesman.

I was asked to participate with Protect Idaho Kids for the Idaho Steelheads game on Nov. 12 and 13. At Protect Idaho Kids they raise awareness on the rescourses that are already here and available for the state of Idaho such as the 211 line (pick up any phone, dial 211, and get any answers your looking for in terms of parenting and most other issues with families including counseling services, information on where to go and even class schedules for those who seek to improve). We were able to help spread the message to everyone about helping keep our kids safe here in Idaho and I got to drop the first puck as well as ride on the Zamboni! What an amazing couple of evenings! Also picutred is Miss Outstanding Teen Western Idaho, 2010, Ashley Stultz. She's a doll!

I was invited by my 6 year old, Madison, to attend her school's pumpkin patch field trip on October 22, 1010! They had such a blast, I was able to have a small group of kids and enjoy their company being a chaperone all day! We had a great time picking pumpkins, playing in corn, jumping on the HUGE pillow, riding in a cow ride and lots more! Thanks to Whitney Elementary for allowing me to be a part of such a fun filled day!

I also got the opportunity to do a photoshoot for the upcoming pageant! We went all over Boise shooting! My favorite spot was at the State Capital where First Lady Otter was handing out candy for the trick or treaters.
I celebrated with the local GOP for Election night on Nov. 2, 2010 and had such an AMAZING time! Most of the candidates I voted for won, so that was really exciting to see them all again and catch up on the campaign trail and how things have gone with them. Such a fun night and my husband enjoyed it more than I did!!!

Shirlene and I had a wonderful time helping out with the College of Southern Idaho Great Pumpkin Race. We were able to help over 250 contestants get microchips for the race and cheered on some of the little kids that ran in the mile run. We loved spending our time helping the sports department raise money through this event, even though it was definitely colder than we expected.

It was so much fun seeing everyone at the St. Lukes Women's Fitness Celebration! I have done this race since I was 8 years old, so it is near to my heart. Now that I am married though, my husband and I have volunteered instead of actually racing. This year we were handing out tshirts for the race, and then Saturday morning we went and helped block off roads and cheer on everyone. I was impressed at how much dancing and cheering my husband did, and I was so happy to be standing by him doing the same thing! I enjoyed everything from getting a tshirt with Jared the Subway guys signature on it to posing for pictures for the Idaho Statesman. And this whole event is about a Celebration, and my Celebration this year is that I am healthy and living life how I want it to be!

Mrs. Idaho America and Extreme Home Makeover

I had the most amazing experience being a part of the Extreme Makeover Home Edition and truly making a difference in the lives of fellow Idahoans. When I first arrived on location, I was in awe of the energy and love that was felt from all the volunteers and crew. It was exciting to get a tour of the house and see all the amazing details that were put into everything. I also meet Ty!!! He made an effort to talk to me despite his CRAZY recording schedule. He even signed the back of my Mrs. Idaho banner! I was a little star struck if you can image!!! He’s as good looking in person as he is on TV Wink, Wink!

It was exciting to get my hands dirty and help out with whatever I could for this amazing family in need! I felt official in my white hard hat and Bright Blue T shirt!!

I also had the opportunity to meet the on lookers and introduce myself and talk more about the amazing organization of Mrs. Idaho America. I was also lucky enough to get a behind the scenes tour of all the “TOP SECRET” projects! There, I was able to meet a few more stars of the show like Paul DiMeo, Ed Sanders, and Jillian Harris.

This experience has forever made an impression on my heart! I feel blessed to have been a part of something so unique and truly life changing!

I had the chance to go and celebrate with the Boise Rescue Mission and their City Lights, which is the women's and childrens shelter, 10 year anniversary! What an amazing, memorable evening! On October 2, there was a huge celebration including previous first lady of Idaho Patricia Kempthorne as the key note speaker, dinner, meeting the mothers and children the City Lights have helped and many touching moments through the evening. I was impressed with how many women have actually completed the program and moved on from the Mission, to raise their families in a healthy, happy home now! Picture here is Jason Billister and Rev. Roscoe from the Boise Rescue Mission and two of the lovely employees. The City Lights program helps those who need the help and are willing to consider changing their lives that will enable them to grow to be amazing mothers and give back to the community. What an amazing evening!!!

I was invited to be a guest at the Kiwanis club luncheon with a good friend, Mark Bennett. What a fun group of leaders our city has! They are a hoot! The best part is that they are serving our children in our community, which is actually Kiwanis's mission: "To Serve Children of the World". The members play a significant role in many service events such as those coming up very soon; "Rake up Meridian" , "Guys Read" and the "Hope Tree". I am excited to work with them as a representative of the City of Meridian

The first photo is at "Run 4 Heaven's Gate" 4 1/2 marathons in 4 weeks through Calvary chapel ministries. They raise money to sponsor children from India from the orphanages.

One of the fun appearances that I recently did was at the 6th Annual Perrine Bridge Festival. This event hit home because I was able to be the MC for this event all day, and this raised funds for the St. Lukes Magic Valley Health Foundation. In this organization it helps with funding for therapy for people with developmental disabilities. For the last year I was a Developmental Therapist and had come to know and love the people in this community that need this therapy. I was able to meet many performing groups that donated there time and was able to make a lot of friendships with companies that helped make this event a success. With the Perrine Bridge in the background of the stage it was great to have the theme "A Bridge to Success for Kids", and having such a beautiful backdrop for a beautiful event.

Thank you for all you do, and I am so excited for workshop that is in just a month!

I got an invite to attend an event called "Idaho Young Republicans, Politics on the Patio" with Governor Butch Otter being one of the special guests. The young republicans is the oldest political youth organizations in the United States. They had a ceremony and gave out checks to other Republicans for their bid for seats in the Senate, House and other areas of the political arena.

Welcome home Mrs. Idaho America team!! Congrats to all of you for having Idaho make a strong appearance in AZ. Heidi looked GORGEOUS, especially in the interview and evening gown pictures.

Sun Valley's Wagon Days Parade occurs every Labor Day Weekend and is the largest non-motorized parade in the west. The streets of our small town are jammed packed with locals and tourists enjoy this fun weekend event. It's one of my favorite events of the summer. This year, our local YMCA asked me to coordinate and decorate their horse pulled wagon. It was so much fun helping out the YMCA and being a part of the parade. This was such a special treat for my family and we can't wait to do it again next year!

I have never been to a county fair before but the atmosphere is definitely different than the state fair. I loved making appearances at the fair, from entering into the baking contest and winning first place to having different events managers asking me to make appearances at their events coming up. I enjoyed ever minute of it and can't wait to let more of Twin Falls know that I am representing them in the 2011 Mrs. Idaho America Pageant.

I got the opportunity to do an appearance for Bob FM 96.1 at the Western Idaho Fair on August 28th for the 2nd Annual Bob-B-Que competition. The judges were local business owners in the restaurant industry and I even got the chance to try a sample fo most the food! It was ALL really good! I also got to meet the Marines that played in their traveling band and was the entertainment for the afternoon.

On August 28, I also had the opportunity to co-host an awards event for A.L.P.H.A., named appropriately "Forever Red," which is an Idaho organization that helps diagnose, counsel and spread the word on either being infected or affected by HIV/AIDS. They are a great organization that has a yearly awards show that includes dinner, entertainment, stories and awards for the movers and shakers making a difference in their community with HIV and AIDS. It was a fun moulin rouge themed evening where most came in costume and I got to hear some very touching stories as well as show my support with the cause they stand behind. My husband was my handsome date for the night!

The Sun Valley Resort has begun a strong "family friendly" campaign to entice more families to visit and play in Sun Valley. Since they know that I'm actively trying to do the same thing, they asked my family to take part in some marketing photos of their bowling alley inside of the Resort. I was so glad that I was able to help out with the Magic Valley Tennis Tournament this year. It was wonderful being able to learn more about Tennis and also meet Robert Sterk who puts together 4 to 5 tournaments a year through out Idaho. I was able to learn the ropes of behind the scenes, by the end I was running the booth by myself! I plan on helping at more of the tournaments, and maybe even becoming a tennis player myself.

A few week ago, it was the Wood River Community YMCA's big fundraiser night in Sun Valley. Dinner is served under a white tent, there are numerous auction items and lots of fun dancing. My role for the last 2 years has been table captain. I think I have one of the best "jobs" since we get to mingle with our tables and encourage them to big higher and higher for the auction items. We have a lot of fun with the folks at the tables. This was the YMCA's biggest year yet and we helped raised over $400,000!

I was asked by the national Eagle Rock Kennel Club, If I would come and present the awards for their annual dog show. It was a wonderful experience to volunteer my time and to meet dog owners from across the nation. I was amazed by the event and left a TRUE dog lover!! My kids won BEST IN SHOW well..at least in my book! :) I had the opportunity to visit the Idaho Potato Museum in Blackfoot. I was able to learn a little more about out great State of Idaho. I must admit, We sure make pretty BIG potatos for such a small state :)

Two weeks ago, the Wood River YMCA was given the opportunity to have a benefit concert to raise money for youth programs in the valley. Since I'm passionate about families and love to put on community events, I was thrilled when the YMCA asked me to take on this project. Even Miss Idaho came over from Eagle to help to show support and help us raise money during this family friendly concert. She is a beautiful and gracious young lady. We raised over $200 for the YMCA youth programs that evening! I had such a great time.

I got the opportunity to help Protect Idaho Kids with the Boise Hawks. We gave away a TON of goodies like bicycles, gift cards, rounds of golf, horse back riding and on and on during the Boise Hawks Baseball game. It was a family event and my 11 year old daughter helped us give away tickets for the chance to win some of the prizes. It was all to raise awareness for Idaho's biggest and most important asset, our children. I even made a new friend on the field!

Protect Idaho Kids also had another even at Idaho Ice World, that included free ice skating, to raise awareness and prevention of child abuse issues. We were able to give away several "goodies" again and made two little kids the happiest by giving away bikes again! For more information, please see http://www.protectidahokids.com/. I helped out at the Library for their last summer activity with a big water activity in the City Park. It was crazy trying to fill up water balloons, especially since sometimes the nozzle would pop off of the hose and squirt every one around. I was the lucky person to get hit with water many times, but luckily it was a warm summer day. Jeremy was helping a lot with, helping the kids and running water balloons to the different stations. It was definitely a fun day, and I am sad how fast summer has come and is leaving.

Almost one year to date has passed since Robert Manwell (8yr. old, Boise, ID) disappeared and we all learned of the unfortunate outcome together. Unfortunately it was devastating when we discovered the truth, but it motivated one man to start a non profit foundation called Protect Idaho Kids. Visit their website at www.protectidahokids.com for more information. I got the chance to help raise money for our children to stay safe, educate the public and hopefully help get the word out about programs here locally that are already available. Bruce Wingate is pictured with myself and other volunteers at Warm Springs Golf Course for this event.

One year ago, the Taliban captured Hailey resident, PFC Bo Bergdahl. In order to show our continued support for Bo and his family, the community gathered together to replenish some of the old yellow ribbons around town. We helped out last year and were honored to show our support again for our fellow American soldier.

I was able to go and help out at the Library with there summer reading program activity. I was in charge of the station where we showed how molecules move slower in cold water and faster in hot water. I loved seeing the kids faces after they saw the food coloring going really fast through the hot water.

I was able to go and help out at the Home Depot with these scopes that let kids look around corners and over taller things. It was fun helping them and seeing how excited they were when we got done with the whole project. I was so happy to have my husband there. He helps and supports me in every appearance which is so wonderful, and I appreciate him for it. Also, we went to the Buhl Sagebrush Days Parade and Celebration. We cheered on people who where on the floats and we then spent some time walking around the park. It was cool having people coming up to us that were in the parade and telling us that they appreciate having us cheering them on, and that they are glad that I am representing the area. I felt awesome hearing that, and it makes me feel like I can do anything!

I was able to meet and talk with Our State Governor Butch Otter at an early morning flag raising ceremony. It was the coolest 4th of July morning we have had in years!!!

Here in my home town of Idaho Falls we are lucky enough to have the Melaleuca Freedom Celebration, a firework show that is acclaimed to be the largest Firework show West of the Missipppi. I was honored to have been invited to a special dinner before the fireworks where I was able to meet some of our inspirational State leaders, as well as being publicly recognized as Mrs. Idaho America. It was the perfect way to end such a wonderful day. The 4th of July is TRULY my favorite holiday!

Every year, the Lee Pesky Foundation holds a adventurous scavenger hunt around Sun Valley. This year, they made if family friendly, so we just had to do it! We had to figure out 12 clues and run to those 12 different spots around town in less than hour. The kids were troopers and had so much fun "helping" us out. Patrick and I were literally sweating by the end of the scavenger hunt. It was an awesome event in our community and we are already planning our strategy for next year.

Hello MIA Team,

For my family, "active families" also mean being active in the community together. We spent the morning picking weeds and watering plants at Hailey's Hope Garden. The Hope Garden is a beautiful new addition to downtown Hailey. All the organic produce is given to the Hunger Coalition which serves the Mobile Food Bank. The best part is that The Hope Garden sits on the same lot as Hailey's old jailhouse.

During the Dollar Mountain 10K, I had the great pleasure of recording entrance times and bib numbers. What a fun and inspiring community of runners to work with. Hopefully, they will inspire me to run a big race one of these days. US Olympian and Sun Valley resident, Morgan Arritola, came in 1st place!

I have been a really busy lady as of late but it's been such a great experience and thank you again for allowing me to be Mrs. Boise! I forever am in debt to you gals!

Attached are some photo's from Brasher's Auto Auction Smoker Event held every year to benefit 7 different charities. The Smoker is an event where amature boxers get in the ring and fight it out until the last man is standing. The charity event is also called "Last man standing" which is held at this event. I was asked from the Boise Rescue Mission to gather some friends and help out, so we did just that! This year, the approximate money raised is estimated to be between $60,000 and $70,000!

The first picture is with Jason from the Boise Rescue Mission with a couple girl friends and myself. Jason coordinates the volunteer services and has been a great inspiration to me.

The next picture is me with some service men and they were extremely kind and respectful. I got the opportunity to thank them for serving our great country.

The last one is with the winner of the Smoker and some of the volunteers. He won a Championship Belt presented by Brasher's Auto Auction!

These pictures are from the Boise Rescue Mission Golf Tournament held at Shadow Valley Golf Course. The mission raised approximately $24,000 in one day! It was amazing to be apart of it and even be considered as a "local celebrity" and make a speech to thank them for everything they do. I am truly blessed to be able to be apart of such a large organization and also see what the community can offer in terms of raising money for such a great cause. The second picture is with the group of "local celebrities" and they range from business owners to news anchormen, Rev. Roscoe with the mission and even BSU Football players as well as I got to meet and talk with the new basketball coach for BSU. What a blast!!!!

Also I have attached pictures from Western Days where Angela (Mrs. Southern Idaho) and I helped out with the information booth and we also led the whole Opening Ceremonies. It was fun, except for the constant rain and thunnderstorms the whole time! Lisa was the Chair over all of Western Days and she was so nice and happy even with the weather conditions.

Hey ladies!

Here are a couple more pictures. The first one is Reverend Bill Roscoe, Executive Director at the Boise Rescue Mission. I am doing a drive for womens, childrens and mens clothing, as well as any old items friends and family don't need anymore such as pots and pans and sheets. The items that are on the table and in the bin behind us are all from donations that I was able to donate. One person really can make a difference!

The second and third picture is from a benefit for children with disabilities. Angelia Devine (Mrs. Boise Intl. 2010) is a good friend and we went together to help support the cause. Who knew I would be stuck doing improv?! It was a highly entertaining evening to say the least!

A recent email from Mrs. Sun Valley:
This morning, the kids and I were Animal Shelter volunteers. We met other Animal Shelter volunteers at Adams Gulch in Sun Valley and my family was paired up with 8 week old Mack. We were able to play with Mack and take him for a beautiful hike. What a sweet and fun dog! We had such a great time as a family. I think we have started a new family tradition with the animal shelter.

It was a cold June morning, so my beautiful sash is hidden under my coat.
